Popcorn Chicken

Who doesn’t love crispy little bites of chicken you can pop like candy? This homemade popcorn chicken recipe is fast, crunchy, and seriously addictive.

Ingredients :

  • 1 ¼ pound chicken breast boneless, skinless
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup panko
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • ¾ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 3 cups vegetable oil

Directions :

  1. Use a meat mallet to pound it into a thin piece then chop it into cubes. Set aside.
  2. Whisk the milk and sour cream together in a bowl.
  3. Add the chicken and salt to the bowl and mix well to coat. Set aside to marinate.
  4. Add flour, panko, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne to a bowl and whisk to incorporate.
  5. Dust each piece of chicken in the panko mixture and set aside.
  6. Add enough vegetable oil to a pot to submerge the chicken in and heat it over high heat.
  7. Once the oil is boiling hot, add chicken pieces to the pot to deep fry. Avoid overcrowding the pot so each piece of popcorn chicken is evenly cooked.
  8. Remove the chicken from the oil and set on a rack to drip dry the excess oil.
  9. Serve your crispy popcorn chicken with your favorite dips, and enjoy!
