Ingredients :
- 6 large eggs
- 3 cups cubed bread day-old preferred
- 2 cups shredded cheese cheddar or mozzarella
- 1 lb breakfast sausage cooked and crumbled
- 2 cups milk
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: ½ cup diced bell peppers spinach, or mushrooms
Directions :
- Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread the cubed bread evenly across the bottom.
- Sprinkle the cooked sausage and shredded cheese over the bread. Add any optional vegetables at this stage.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread and toppings.
- Cover with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 8 hours).
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the casserole from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.
- Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the eggs are set.
