Oatmeal Bread

Oatmeal bread is soft, slightly sweet, and packed with wholesome goodness. It has a hearty texture from oats and a mild sweetness from honey, making it perfect for breakfast or snacks. This bread is easy to make and requires simple ingredients that you may already have in your kitchen.

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk dairy or non-dairy
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup warm water as needed
  • Extra oats for topping

Directions :

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, honey, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In another bowl, combine oats, whole wheat flour, and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add warm water while kneading until a soft dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes, then place it in a greased bowl. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
  6. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Sprinkle oats on top and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let it cool before slicing and serving.
