Oatmeal Bread
Oatmeal bread is soft, slightly sweet, and packed with wholesome goodness. It has a hearty texture from oats and a mild sweetness from honey, making it perfect for breakfast or snacks. This bread is easy to make and requires simple ingredients that you may already have in your kitchen.
Ingredients :
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour
- 1 packet 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk dairy or non-dairy
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons butter melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup warm water as needed
- Extra oats for topping
Directions :
- In a bowl, mix warm milk, honey, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In another bowl, combine oats, whole wheat flour, and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix well.
- Gradually add warm water while kneading until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes, then place it in a greased bowl. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Sprinkle oats on top and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool before slicing and serving.
