Miso Glazed Salmon

This Miso Glazed Salmon recipe is a delightful mix of savory, sweet, and a tiny bit of spice, making it a hit for any meal. Miso, a flavorful paste often used in Japanese cooking, brings a rich umami (savory taste) that perfectly complements the natural oiliness of the salmon. When you add a touch of honey and ginger, it creates a glaze that caramelizes beautifully on the fish, giving it a deliciously crispy outer layer.

Ingredients :

  • 4 salmon fillets about 6 ounces each
  • ¼ cup white miso paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Optional for garnish: sliced green onions sesame seeds

Directions :

  1. In a bowl, whisk together miso paste, soy sauce, honey, grated ginger, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until smooth.
  2. Place the salmon fillets in a dish and coat them with the miso mixture. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours.
  3. Preheat the broiler or grill on high. Place the salmon on a greased baking sheet or grill, skin-side down. If broiling, position the rack so the salmon is about 6 inches from the heat source.
  4. Broil or grill the salmon for 6-10 minutes, or until it flakes easily with a fork. The cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the fillets.
  5. Halfway through cooking, brush the salmon with additional glaze to enhance the flavor.
  6. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
