Chicken Francese is a classic Italian-American dish featuring tender chicken cutlets coated in a light egg batter and simmered in a buttery lemon sauce. It’s simple to make yet packed with vibrant flavors, making it perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions.

Ingredients :

  • 4 chicken breasts pounded thin
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup lemon juice about 2 lemons
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Directions :

  1. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Dredge each piece in flour, then dip in beaten eggs to coat.
  2. Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add lemon juice, chicken broth, and remaining butter. Stir and simmer for 2–3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  4. Return the chicken to the skillet and simmer for another 3–4 minutes, spooning the sauce over the chicken.
