
Chicken Balti
Chicken Balti is a rich, flavorful curry that is cooked quickly over high heat in a single pan, making it both easy and delicious. This dish comes from the British-Indian fusion cuisine and is known for its bold spices, tender chicken, and thick tomato-based sauce.
Ingredients :
- 1 lb 450g boneless chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions chopped
- 2 tomatoes chopped or pureed
- 2 tablespoon oil
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- ½ teaspoon red chili powder adjust to taste
- ½ cup water
- ½ teaspoon salt adjust to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Directions :
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in turmeric, cumin, coriander, and red chili powder. Cook for another minute.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they break down into a thick sauce.
- Add the chicken pieces and stir well to coat with the sauce.
- Pour in water and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked.
- Stir in garam masala and adjust salt to taste.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
