Cheese Grits

Cheese grits are a classic Southern comfort food, loved for their creamy, cheesy goodness. Made from simple ingredients like grits, cheddar cheese, milk, and butter, this dish is easy to prepare and full of rich flavor. Cheese grits are perfect for breakfast but can also be served as a side with lunch or dinner.

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup grits quick or stone-ground
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions :

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the milk, water, and a pinch of salt to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. Slowly stir in the grits, then reduce the heat to low.
  3. Cook the grits for 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently, until thick and creamy.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and shredded cheese until fully melted and smooth.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and let the grits sit for a few minutes to thicken before serving.
