
Biscuits without Baking Powder

Ingredients :
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 cup cold butter cubed
- 1 ¼ cup milk
Directions :
- Add flour, brown sugar, salt, baking soda, and cream of tartar to a large bowl and stir to incorporate.
- Add the butter to the mixture using a pastry cutter, a fork, or your hands to work it in.
- Gently mix in the milk until a dough forms.
- On a floured surface, roll the dough into a 1-inch thick sheet, then fold it in half and roll it out to about ½ to ¾ inch thick.
- Using a sharp cutter, press straight down into the dough without twisting to cut your biscuits. Re-roll the scrap dough to make more biscuits and continue until all of the dough has been used.
- Place your biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 400F.
